Leaders in Sustainability
Leading the Way in Sustainable Shrimping
We strongly believe in preserving the waters of our Gulf of Mexico for now and the future, for our industry and for our families, neighbors and visitors.
We know that our customers care deeply about sustainability and our industry’s effect on the environment. We do, too. After all, these waters are vital to our livelihood and our way of life in South Louisiana.
Paul Piazza and Son, LLC, has been a pioneer in sustainability. We strongly believe in preserving the waters of our Gulf of Mexico for now and the future, for our industry and for our families, neighbors and visitors.
We work closely with state and local government, environmental groups and others connected to our industry to attain favorable fishery certification. We’re also actively involved in Fishery Improvement Projects initiated by the Audubon Nature Institute in Louisiana and Texas. These marine stewardship endeavors involve multiple industry stakeholders, all with the goal of preserving Gulf of Mexico fisheries.
Our sustainability concerns extend to industry waste. Instead of discarding shrimp shells, this byproduct is hauled to local cattle farmers, who use the nutrient-packed shells for fertilizer. This organic fertilizer is rich in calcium, nitrogen and phosphorus.
